The person in this position conducts analyses specific to his or her area of activity, and helps develop and implement solutions to attain set objectives. This person supports the members of his or her own unit or other units, as needed.


General Information on the Position

The person in this position helps with the management and maintenance of market data used for various transactional systems and for the evaluation of risk measures and fair market valuation. The successful candidate will also contribute to the production of information on risks within prescribed time limits and for carrying out various projects related to improving methodologies and processes for risk quantification and assessment of fair market value.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure the daily maintenance and integrity of market data.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of market data transmitted to core business systems for the evaluation and monitoring of risk measures.
  • Produce monthly market risk reports, ensure that exposures and risk limits are accurate and respected and report back to senior management.  
  • Carry out specific analyses which require quantification and analysis of various risks and how they interact with each other and make recommendations on risk management and frameworks, where applicable.
  • Identify the required developments for the process, ensure the prioritization of deliverables and carry out acceptance tests.
  • Collaborate in the development, evolution and implementation of tools for managing and monitoring market risk.
  • Understand the applications and systems used to generate information on risks, and participate in updates.
  • Ensure balance and consistency between business needs, risk management and compliance, and standards and best practices.
  • Ensure documentation on processes and procedures is accurate and up to date.
  • Act as an advisory analyst for the organization’s units and various business partners in relation to their area of expertise.
  • Support members of the unit with regard to management tools.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 2 years of relevant experience
  • Graduate-level training in finance or another related field (asset)
  • Hold or be in the process of obtaining CFA or FRM certification (asset)
  • Knowledge of derivative financial instruments, their evaluation models and negotiation strategies
  • Knowledge of the Bloomberg financial database (asset)
  • Knowledge of SQL and VBA programming
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
