PROFILE

Responsible for application installation, configuration and integration of software. The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring the Information Technology requirements within one or more various practice areas, are addressed and make appropriate recommendations where necessary. Is responsible for automated practice support systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing end-user support for one or more standard applications and proprietary programs used by the Firm and may be first level support to the help desk technicians on these applications.
  • Providing technical support to the System Administrators to ensure the proper configuration and operation of one or more standard applications and proprietary programs in a networked environment.
  • Installing upgrades and maintaining current versions of software.
  • Installing new software as required.
  • Ensuring compliance and consistency with software as used in other Gowling offices.
  • Identifying, testing and evaluating software programs that will meet the needs of the various practice areas.
  • Preparing written evaluations on the advantages and disadvantages of tested software.
  • Participate in various IT projects.
  • Assists in the development of lessons and documentation relating to new applications.
  • Assists in providing training to the users.
  • Any other duties as required.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • College diploma in Computer Science.
  • One year of relevant experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other Firm members, with the aptitude to take care of clients’ needs in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Capacity to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Solid background in the use and support of standard business applications, specifically in the legal environment.
  • Produce a high quality and quantity of work product, occasionally under tight timelines.
  • Able to prioritize and to redefine priorities when necessary.
  • Handle stress in a business-like manner.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) may be required in some offices.
