Business Analyst Job Details:

He/she is also expected to interact with the technical implementation teams (internal development team and/or vendor implementation team) to identify and document non-functional requirements; and assist in the communication of these requirements to key business stakeholders as needed.

Works closely with key Exploration & PDG stakeholders; facilitating and prioritizing requirements, business process changes and business values expected to be derived from these business application initiatives. Analytical and methodical in the approach of deciphering business terminology into easy to understand business requirements and business improvements.

Constantly keeps a look out for changing and / or evolving business requirements and business needs during active design periods; and is able to keep delivery teams and stakeholders properly informed via updated documentation or communication sessions.

Evaluates if proposed solutions (by internal or vendor delivery teams) effectively solves the business problems.

Participates in all aspects of application lifecycle management (ALM) activities including but not limited to solution design sessions with internal and external delivery teams while representing the interests of the business stakeholders at these sessions (i.e. business proxy).

Manages and organizes his/her time effectively, delivers required artifacts to delivery teams for their down-stream activities.

Works closely with Quality Assurance team to develop and execute test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and expected results.

Prepares and facilitates User Acceptance Testing sessions with power users and business stakeholders in collaboration with QA Team Lead.

Collaborates with the Training team to prepare training material, Release Notes and/or presentations for newly implemented system changes / releases.

Provide weekly progress updates on initiatives to Management and stakeholders in a timely manner.

Ensures conformance to Teck’s ALM Best Practices.

Complies with and enforces corporate policies for change management and release management when coordinating business application system changes.

Complies with and enforces corporate procedure for controlling and granting of business application system access permissions.

Business Analyst Mandatory Skills:

Education: University Degree or College Diploma with emphasis on management of information systems or computer systems. Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) from International Institute of Business Analysts (IIBA) is highly desirable.

5 – 7 years of experience in a Business Analyst role preferably within Exploration.

Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation and training skills and able to effectively advise on business process improvements.

Excellent analytical thinking and problem solving skills i.e. skilled at identifying and analyzing large volumes of information, able to develop a deep understanding of key issues quickly (business processes and system related), meticulously analyzes and investigates the business problems independently; and in collaboration with the delivery team proposes options / solutions to business stakeholders in simple business terms.

Very strong documentation skills.

Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment, able to manage and organize multiple assignments simultaneously with tight deadlines.

Strong knowledge and working experience with Portfolio Program and Project Management Tools, System Development Lifecycle methodologies (Waterfall, Agile Scrum), Business Analysis tools, diagrams, and associated methodologies.

Experience with Microsoft’s Team Foundation Server (TFS) would be desirable.
