Duties

We are looking for a Field Unit Clerk to provide a broad range of administrative, financial, organizational and clerical support duties to the Nursery Superintendent and other nursery staff.

Your attention to detail will be critical in this role to run daily financial and procurement services for the Nursery including:

prepare and process payment and approval of invoices

departmental purchase orders

journal vouchers, and

petty cash statements

You will also prepare and reconcile payroll and assist with the preparation of accurate budget forecasting. Your excellent customer service skills will be showcased in your interaction with the general public and industry in the purchasing and shipping of forest seedlings.

This position reports to the Nursery Superintendent.

Qualifications

Typically in this position five years’ related work experience is required. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.

You are knowledgeable in Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP) and are familiar with word processing, spreadsheets, email and web based applications. You have a high degree of accuracy and are able to work with minimal supervision. Strong organizational skills and a customer service focus will be beneficial to you in this role. You are an exceptional communicator (both verbally and in writing) with effective interpersonal skills.

The following will be considered as assets:

Knowledge of the Department financial processes and policies

Familiarity with the Departments programs, statutes, regulations and procedures.

Previous experience working in a computerized accounting environment

Experience and extensive knowledge of our Corporate Financial Management System (SAP), Salary Analysis System (SAS), records management systems such as STAR/STOR, and Pathways
