This is a full-time term position to December 31, 2019.
Based at our Saskatoon office, the Contracts Specialist – Projects is responsible to provide contracting activity as it applies to the provision of goods and services required by KSPC’s Project and Technologies Group. The Contracts Specialist will work with key stakeholders in order to understand their requirements, conduct contractor pre-qualifications, prepare and issuing bid documents, prepare proposal clarifications and complete evaluations, negotiate terms, write and issue award recommendations, write and issue contracts for execution, and administer awarded contracts. This role will have a direct impact on the costs and profitability of K+S Potash Canada.
The successful candidate will:
•Lead the full range of procurement processes in a cross-functional group environment
•Develop and implement contract strategies, support and implement negotiating strategy, and execute the management and delivery of successful contracts
•Serve as primary contact ensuring all aspects of assigned contracts are met, and establish key requirements, measures and protocols to mitigate risks
•Guide Project and Technologies group on Procurement Policies and Procedures
•Understand and align to strategies, priorities and plans
•Pre-qualify suppliers and contractors to reduce risk and increase ROI
•Develop RFP/RFQ documents, and work with End Users to define Scope of Work
•Develop RFP/RFQ Technical and Commercial evaluation criteria and weightings
•Complete commercial reviews and preparation of bid comparisons
•Lead bid review team and negotiations
•Prepare Letters of Recommendation
•Conform Contract Documents and issue for execution
•Evaluate and recommend contract changes to ensure effective change management and mitigate financial implications
•Manage commercial activities related to assigned contracts to ensure consistency with contract terms and conditions
•Participate in progress review meetings

Qualifying requirements for this role:
•Must have Diploma or a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Purchasing.
•7+ years’ of experience in the contracts field for multiple large projects.
•Advanced Excel skills
•Technical background in engineering considered an asset
•Supply Chain Certification, SCM Diploma, SCMP Designation considered an asset
•SAP knowledge considered an asset
•Experience with various types of contracts pertaining to goods and services
•Knowledge of legislation and regulatory environment as it relates to purchasing and supply chain management.
•Strong communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

•Commitment to achieving results in a fast paced changing environment
•Has strong understanding of the regulatory environment as applicable to subject matter.
•Must be authorized to legally work in Canada.
