Roles & Responsibilities

Our client, a Canadian publicly listed retail powerhouse is looking for a Corporate Accountant to join their Corporate Accounting Group. You will be responsible for the timely preparation of the consolidated financial results monthly. This role reports to the Manager, Corporate Accounting & Reporting.

Responsibilities:

Prepare timely and accurate consolidation using Hyperion Financial Management

Prepare month-end and quarter-end corporate journal entries and account reconciliations

Monitor and reconcile intercompany elimination for assigned financial statement line items

Prepare monthly control binders for CEO/CFO certification key controls and submit to management for review and sign-off

Prepare corporate expenses journal entries and perform monthly review and variance analysis

Analyze and prepare schedules for various financial statement information

Liaise with other groups within Finance (FP&A, BU Accounting, Tax, Treasury) to respond to corporate close and consolidation specific inquiries as required

Participate in ad hoc projects, analysis, and preparation of reports for Senior Management

Qualifications:

CPA, CMA, CGA

University business degree

3+ years of relevant work experience

Strong working knowledge of consolidation principles and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

Solid accounting fundamental skills

Working knowledge of Hyperion Financial Management or PeopleSoft is considered an asset

Advanced working level of Microsoft Office Suite products such as Excel, Access, and PowerPoint

Team spirit and commitment to continuous quality improvement

Ability to work well with all levels of the organization and build/maintain strong relationships

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
