Job Summary: Teacher-Tutor 

We are looking for thoughtful, and innovative teachers who take pride in their work and in the results their work delivers. Our teachers support students in developing the learning skills necessary to be successful while developing and extending their mastery of concepts being discussed at school. Our goal is to leave each and every student feeling confident, engaged and connected to their learning. 

As part of the team, you will benefit from the shared learning and best practices of other educators on our team, as well as opportunities for free professional development sessions that will enhance your professional practice. You will work with the same families and be given a consistent weekly schedule that is based on your availability. The families we serve treat our teachers with respect, and our policies ensure that our educators feel valued and are treated fairly. 

Required Skills and Qualifications 

  • Ontario College of Teachers’ Certificate of Qualification and/or Retired Teachers of Ontario (RTO/ERO) Membership 
  • 2+ years of experience 
  • Available for at least 6 months 
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) 
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills 
  • Ability to plan effective lessons in advance 
  • Flexible and willing “can do” attitude 
  • Must be able to reliably travel to student homes 
  • Demonstrated understanding of social justice and commitment to promoting equitable outcomes for all students 
  • Experience working with children with exceptionalities is an asset
