Job Overview

Roles & Responsibilities

As a member of the Canada Area Services team, you will:

Provide Area Operations facilitation to Projects requiring IT Infrastructure (i.e. Server/Network, etc.) and Facilities (i.e. Data Centre) involvement

Act as a focal point for EMIT Project Management Groups for incoming IT Infrastructure and Facilities projects in Canada

Communicate to Site Coordinators, Management and other (local and global) groups to ensure appropriate resource allocation

Provide consultation so that projects follow Area Ops processes

Ensure Security & Control requirements are met prior to Area Operations accepting steady state operations

Review/communicate work efforts to Area Operations (i.e. stewardship reports)

Responsible for cost estimation, obtaining funding, establishing meetings with other technical support groups who will be completing the activities

Support the team SharePoint website and project stewardship dashboard

Create and review formal documentation/processes as required (e.g. Transition Checklist/ Document from Project to Steady Operations State)

Work and learn the industry business standard problem management system (BMC Remedy/ITSM) for ticket handling and asset management

Use continuous improvement techniques to improve support performance

Interface with external suppliers and various global technical support teams

Recommend, develop and implement enhancements for current workflow or support model

Provide hands on support to Calgary Area Operations Support team when required (e.g. racking and stacking of servers in Data Center, Asset Verification, etc.)



Completion of 2nd year Computer/Electrical/Software Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems students interested in a career in information technology


Strong interpersonal, listening, verbal and written communication skills

Process/Detailed oriented, strong ability to prioritize tasks and organize work

Ability to work effectively in a team environment to accomplish organizational goals

Demonstrate sound analytical and problem-solving skills

Highly motivated individual able to work with minimum supervision

Maintain effectiveness in a changing environment

Good working knowledge of company process/procedures and ethics

Experience in ticket handling systems such as Remedy/ITSM

Fluent in Microsoft suite of office tools with focus in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Word

Familiarity with SharePoint would be an asset

Basic server and networking knowledge
