Roles & Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities

Provide support to the Product Owner for all engineering deliverables for a particular component and associated product development project: 

Develop innovative components within a broad range of systems from cryogenic (LNG), high and low pressure gas storage and supply systems, to on-engine fuel conditioning components including injectors, regulators and valves. 

Provide support into engineering schedules and meet agreed task and project delivery dates (Includes verification, test, design level tasks)

Responsible for meeting component technical requirements.

Provide support for component DFMEA

Provide budget input for engineering to the Engineering Project Manager

Responsible for meeting component cost target as defined by program/product management

Create Engineering Change Requests (in PDM). May create models and drawings with review from Design Engineering.

Support completion of component engineering criteria for design stability promotion according to Westport Product Development Process (WPDP)

Responsible for completion of all component product development required technical documentation.

Support verification plans, procedures and support component verification.

Support field trials

Responsible for component manufacturability

Responsible for Root Cause failure investigations for the component

Provide pre-production support and production support of the component.

Define engineering build requirements and communicate to buyer/material planner

Position Requirements

Mechanical Engineering or similar degree. 

Experience conceptualizing and designing complex mechanical systems and assemblies interlinked by mechanical and fluid systems.

Knowledge of mechanical design, fluid dynamics and heat transfer

Ability to justify design decisions with calculations, analysis and written documentation.

Knowledge of standard design practices and structured product development processes such as Requirement Documentation, Verification and Validation Plans and Reports, and DFMEA’s.

Knowledge of properties of materials and manufacturing techniques.

Good verbal and written communication skills in English.

Candidate should have a high degree of creativity but also the ability to translate concepts into practical solutions.

Candidate should also be self-motivated and capable of working independently and with a team.

Knowledge of statistical methods and data analysis.

Good verbal and written communication skills in English.

Ability to communicate effectively on technical matters with colleagues, and suppliers.
