Roles & Responsibilities

The Product Manager will work to understand the needs and challenges of their customers, translate those insights into ideas for investment and new product development or existing product enhancement. He/She will create the business cases or plans for investment ideas and will work closely with engineering to identify requirements and support the process of translating an idea into a new product. The Product Manager is responsible for the product planning and execution throughout the product life cycle, through gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, monitoring performance, recommending adjustments to pricing or promotion to counter competitor responses and working with customers to identify potential enhancements.  He/She will work closely with engineering, sales, marketing, and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The Product Manager’s job also includes ensuring that the product supports the company’s overall strategy and goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Generate new product ideas by identifying market opportunities, enabling market share growth and customer experience improvement
Continually review the current product portfolio, making change recommendations and prioritizing work against new product ideas
Create buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key external partners
Scope and prioritize activities based on business and customer impact
Work closely with engineering teams to ensure quick time-to-market and optimal resource usage
Drive product launches by working with the sales and marketing teams
Evaluate promotional plans to ensure they are consistent with product line strategy and accurate
Act as a product evangelist to build awareness and understanding
Represent the company by visiting customers to solicit feedback on company products and services
Draft key objectives, strategies and apply the data for a product to make business decisions
Develop appropriately detailed product requirements so they are clearly understood by the development teams
Determine customers' needs and desires by specifying the research needed to obtain market information
Assess market positioning by performing competitive analysis for key product lines
Work with the sales team in identifying and identifying customers’ true needs
Provide information for management by preparing short & long-term product sales forecasts and special reports with analyses; answering questions and requests
Determine product pricing by utilizing market research data; reviewing production and sales costs; anticipating volume; costing special and customized orders
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years proven work experience in product management
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and/or Business Administration (MBA preferred)
Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product through its life cycle
Proven ability to develop product and marketing strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management
Solid technical background with understand and or hands-on experience in the electronic/telemetry industry
Proven success in delivering technology products/services in a high growth environment
Data-driven decision making and quantitative analysis skills, including advanced knowledge of Excel
