Job Description

Rotational Analyst Program

We are hiring full-time analysts who will participate in a two-year rotational program across Finance, Analytics, Reporting and Data. This rotational program will provide broad exposure to multiple areas of CPPIB’s business and operations, and a network of colleagues across the organization. This diverse experience will be a key element to building a successful career in this industry. Upon successful completion of the rotational program, analysts may be placed in a full-time opportunity within one of the three groups.


The 2019 program consists of three placements in the following departments:

Risk is accountable for providing strategic influence and governance to the Board and Senior Management Team through risk monitoring and oversight functions such as selecting and monitoring key governance limits across total portfolio and program level; providing independent ex-ante risk assessment for new strategies, programs and large strategic investments. 


What you’ll do

  • Provide support to risk analytics projects, investigate and recommend risk analytical solutions. Responsible for the timely and accurate delivery and analysis of assigned daily risk production, measurement and reporting processes
  • Support risk oversight functions and activities such as selecting and monitoring key governance limits, identifying and quantifying the impact of crises through scenario analysis and providing risk analysis for coverage on both existing and new strategies/transactions
  • Other Risk projects and responsibilities as required

 

Enterprise Data Services is accountable for all security setups for all public and alternative assets used across the fund in multiple systems. The group supports many different teams across the Enterprise as data is required for investments, research and reporting purposes. 

What you’ll do

  • Provide daily security setup for public and private securities that supports research, trading and core services needs. Understand how market events changes data and the impact it has across the Enterprise
  • Support ad hoc data requests or inquiries from data consumers across the Enterprise

 

Performance, Reporting and Analytics is accountable for providing comprehensive information and integrated reporting on total Fund investment results to Senior Management Team and the Board. The group contributes to the investment process by providing independent portfolio feedback and actionable insights to the Investment Planning Committee and the Investment Departments to support decision making processes. The group also manages the firm-wide financial planning and expense allocation process to ensure accurate measurement of net of cost performance results for all investment programs.


What you’ll do

  • Provide support to total fund and departmental performance reporting processes. Responsible for the timely and accurate delivery and analysis of assigned production, measurement and reporting processes.
  • Support projects and on-going initiatives to evolve reporting processes or analytical capabilities, such as improving financial forecasting and external benchmarking capabilities, enhancing access and availability on key reporting metrics, as well as improving visualization of reporting to Management and the Board.
  • Other reporting and analytics projects and responsibilities as required

You are completing an undergraduate or advanced degree program focusing on Commerce, Economics, Engineering, Finance, or Science with an expected graduation date in 2019 are eligible to apply. You have a strong track record of success in academics with a balance of extra-curricular activities.
