Department Overview

Retail Distribution, RESL, and Personal Banking Delivery Excellence Finance team supports the development and achievement of the strategy and financial results for the Branch Distribution Channel, Real Estate Secured Lending and Personal Banking Delivery Excellence businesses. The team leads the consolidated forecast and planning processes, preparing insightful consolidated monthly / quarterly management reporting, providing value added advice to the senior management team, and monitoring business performance.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Produce financial and business insights and recommendations that enhance short and long term economic value for the business
  • Maintain industry, external, & internal business awareness, recognizing & anticipating trends, identifying issues & opportunities, and recommending actions to senior management

Job Description

This role is accountable for providing day-to-day support to our Business stakeholders, leading key reporting, forecasting as well as planning processes. 

The accountabilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ownership of various monthly results packages
  • Provide clear, concise analysis of results, prepare commentary and identify risks, opportunities and emerging trends. This is achieved through comparison against Plan, Forecast and prior periods, consulting with Business and Product partners as required
  • Build new reports, and financial models as required to support analysis and provide proactive value-add insights
  • Complete required planning and forecasting activities
  • Complete adhoc analysis/tasks and support/lead projects working closely with members of our Finance team, Business or Product partners
  • Manage ongoing relationships and be a valued partner by providing advice and guidance on reporting and financial matters to our Business Partners
  • Support broader Finance initiatives with a view to leverage new technology and processes to gain efficiencies
  • Help to promote a positive work environment that allows for innovation, creativity, teamwork and high quality analysis

Job Requirements

  • The successful candidate will possess strong financial acumen, be confident in dealing with senior management and highly committed to meeting deadlines. 
  • Experience with management reporting, accounting and financial analysis
  • Strong knowledge of Hyperion and expense category code hierarchies
  • Proven ability to be detail oriented but also think conceptually (use numbers to tell a story) and make meaning of complex data to develop insights to results (provide the ‘so what’ and ‘now what’)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word); advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships with our partners
  • Record of demonstrating initiative, leadership, resourcefulness with a strong desire to learn and ask questions about the business and key drivers
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated in a deadline oriented environment
  • Effectively managing time to balance monthly reporting and project work is a key success factor

A graduate degree such as an MBA or an accounting designation is an asset.
