Roles & Responsibilities

Lixar is looking for a Senior Systems Administrator to join our team. As a key contributor, you will help Lixar support internal and external clients. The ideal candidate will be a committed professional who has a strong sense of self and strives for perfection.

As an experienced Systems Administrator, you will have:

Exceptional communication skills with the proven ability to communicate effectively within a development team and with clients
Experience with Docker
Experience writing scripts with Bash, Python, and Perl
Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, Saltstack, Puppet
Experience with administrating Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems, including: Windows 10, Windows Server, FreeBSD, CentOS, Alpine, Debian, and Ubuntu linux distributions, Mac OS X
Experience with IP Network, IPSEC, L2TP, and OpenVPN VPNs, BGP, SIP, QoS, switch and firewall configuration, and related network protocols
Experience designing and building server clusters for use with VMWare
Proven experience with git and subversion, and their best practices
Familiarity with Web Services
Familiarity with web application environments (J2EE)
Experience with administering application servers
Experience with root cause analysis, testing and debugging, network issues
Experience with monitoring systems such as Icinga, Grafana, Nagios, Zabbix, Cacti, Observium, Telegraf,and related software
Experience with interoperability between Unix and Windows LDAP/Active directory
Proven attention to detail and commitment to quality

The following would be considered an asset:

Experience working in a small company where teamwork is paramount
Experience in Agile development and/or Continuous Deployment methodologies is a definite asset
Experience with cloud based platforms: Azure, AWS, Google App Engine, OpenStack
Experience with pfSense firewalls and Ubiquiti hardware
Experience with Rancher

What you will be doing:

Participate with infrastructure design and deployment
Responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date infrastructure monitoring, documentation and diagrams
Design and deploy solutions to solve problems or implement new services or features
Contribute to research and development of technical solutions
Perform application troubleshooting
Perform general application support activities for multiple testing environments
Appropriate utilization of helpdesk systems for purposes of logging, tracking and communication of daily support issues/requests both internally and to external vendor teams
Provide desktop and server hardware/software support
Coordinate and participate in incident management calls
Provide infrastructure support for multiple clients
