Job Overview

Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities Include


Assists Adjusters with minor (< $20,000) property damage claims
Evaluates photo and subject matter expert reports to determine cause and coverage
Engages BCAA Field Adjusters, Telephone Adjusters or Independent Adjusters on task assignment for completion of technical claim documents and conversations
Where feasible, utilizes Contractors as the first onsite response resource
Reviews contractor documents (scope and estimates) and provides authorizations to proceed
Expedites restorations and file completion using "roll through scheduling" where appropriate within guidelines

Provides assistance to Adjusters as a technical resource and estimate review desk

Subject Matter Expert for contractor and Claims personnel with regards to building repair and estimate issues and opportunities
Interprets contractor reports to understand building damage characteristics and policy coverage
Reviews and interprets scope documents to determine extent of direct loss
Reviews and interprets scope documents to determine best repair process
Reviews and interprets scope documents to define like kind and quality
Reviews estimates and approves for completion Review estimates for accuracy and compliance with BCAA job costing standards

Intermediate and Major Property Damage review

Assists Adjusters and Examiners on intermediate and large loss (> $50,000) estimate reviews
Ensures estimates are collected and presented in "apples to apples" format for accurate comparison
Evaluates estimates to ensure compliance with cost containment guidelines
Seeks out competitive alternatives on large rebuild projects
Works with independent experts (Specs etc.) on appraisal matters for large losses
Analyzes complex activities or groups of information relating to losses and makes recommendations for coverage quantum

Contractor Audit and Leakage control

Assists in contractor performance review process by conducting audits on KPI criteria Identifies and recommends process improvements to reduce costs, improve member experience and reduce cycle time of claims
Drives initiatives to reduce property damage related loss costs and improved claim cycle time performance
Analyze data and information collected during audits to identify trends and opportunities for cost and service level improvements
Identifies best practices and contributes to review and development of BCAA guidelines
Occasionally brings forward innovations which affect this or other functions within the department or organization

Minimum Qualifications


Journeyman Fire & Smoke Restorer (JSR) through IICRC or equivalent
Journeyman Water Restorer (JWR) through IICRC or equivalent
Post-Secondary certificate or diploma in construction, business or related studies Trade qualification (Red Seal) in building construction (preferred)


7 years Project Management in Fire and Flood restoration industry, of which includes 3-5 years Xactanalysis experience 3-5 years Claims Adjusting (preferred)
