Roles & Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:

– Create complex documentation material in accordance with bank’s documentation standards

– Supports writing of several documents and assesses instructions and documentation to ensure it meets user acceptability tests and requirements

– Confer with client to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication

– Develop and test complex user scenarios that assess applicability and usability of documentation

– Analyze business and user needs, document requirements and design documentation intended for business and IT audiences

– Work with internal business units to seek understanding and obtain collaboration on documentation requirements

– Audit existing documentation in accordance with internal audit requirements or as a result of organizational or infrastructure changes

– Review and approve edits or changes in scope, format, and content made to material prepared by other technical writers or establishment personnel

– Maintain an accurate understanding of internal knowledge-sharing processes to ensure delivery of requested information at the right time

– Maintain detailed knowledge of the business’s current technology and infrastructure and keep current on knowledge sharing methods, tools and techniques

– Revise existing documentation standards as necessary

– May be responsible for maintaining a documentation library

Knowledge and Experience:

– Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Business or related field

– Certification in Technical or Business Writing – would be an asset

– 3-6 years technical/business writing experience

Skills and Competencies:

– Strong editing and reviewing skills to ensure final product meets client expectations

– Strong writing skills that clarify and communicate instructions or procedures

– Strong knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar

– Advanced documentation skills

– Knowledge of communication and dissemination techniques and methods would be an asset

– Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques and roles and responsibilities in providing technical or business guidance to clients within and outside own area

– Strong knowledge of and ability to utilize knowledge capture processes in response to business requirements

– Ability to learn new techniques and software to support the client
